I co-founded Userled with Yann in 2022 and have been leading engineering day-to-day since we wrote the first line of code. I've loved it. But the team and the product have outgrown what I can do well while also focusing on product strategy and customers.

Our engineering team deserves someone great whose sole focus is on them. Someone who can make every engineer on the team better, faster, and more fulfilled in their work. Someone who obsesses over product velocity, engineering quality, and building a team that punches well above its weight.

I'll be shifting my focus toward product direction and working cross-functionally with customers. You'll own engineering. We'll work closely together, but the team will be yours.

Userled is the AI-native platform that hundreds of enterprise B2B companies like Canva, Ramp, Elastic, Synthesia, and NinjaOne use to run their go-to-market. We help marketing and sales teams create hyper-personalised content at scale, track who engages down to the contact level, and give sales the insights to close deals faster.

The engineering challenges are what make this interesting. We process hundreds of millions of monthly web traffic events and work with hundreds of millions of CRM records across our customer base. We run AI-powered personalisation at scale, generating on-brand content in seconds for thousands of accounts simultaneously. We power full-funnel orchestration from the first ad impression through to identity resolution, sales engagement, and pipeline attribution. And we do this across a deep integration surface: LinkedIn Ads API, Salesforce, HubSpot, Outreach, 6sense, and more.

We're a team of ~30 scaling to 50 in the next 12 months, with an engineering team growing from 7 to 15. Backed by LocalGlobe with angels from Tessian, Incident.io, and Maze.

The role

This is a player/coach role. You'll be hands-on in the codebase from day one, especially in the early months as you build context and credibility with the team. As you hire and the team grows, your focus will shift toward enablement, team performance, and the systems that make every engineer faster. The best version of this role is someone who's excited about that transition, not someone who needs to be dragged away from the code.

You will:

• Own engineering performance. Product velocity, code quality, system reliability, and the premium product experience our enterprise customers expect. The bar is high and you'll raise it further.

• Build and scale the team. Take us from 7 to 15 engineers. Own the hiring process end-to-end: sourcing, process design, interviewing, closing. Every hire matters at this stage.

• Coach and develop engineers. Create an environment where engineers grow fast. Establish pods, identify pod leaders, give people stretch opportunities. Career development is core to this role.

• Ship code. Architecture decisions, complex features, and the hardest technical problems still need your hands on them. You lead by example.

• Build the platform for speed. Over time, your biggest leverage is what makes the whole team faster: CI/CD, testing frameworks, AI tooling, developer experience, and infrastructure that scales to enterprise grade.

• Shape product direction. Work directly with the founders and our AI Product Manager to set the roadmap. You'll have a seat at the table on business decisions, not just technical ones.

What we're looking for

• You've led high-performing engineering teams. Not just managed them. You've built a culture of ownership, velocity, and craft. You know how to get the best out of strong individual contributors.

• You're still a strong technical contributor. You've shipped production systems at scale and can go deep on architecture when the team needs you to. Go, TypeScript/React, and cloud infrastructure on AWS/GCP are our stack.

• You're obsessed with making others better. You think about enablement constantly: what's slowing the team down, what tooling is missing, who needs coaching, where the bottlenecks are.

• You've hired well. You've built teams from scratch or scaled them significantly, and you know the difference between a good interview process and a great one.

• You think like a product owner. You care about what the customer experiences. You push engineers to think beyond the code and understand why something matters to the business.
