Legal
Terms
Last updated: 27 October 2026
These terms apply to gophers.fyi. Part 1 covers everyone who uses the site. Part 2 covers companies that buy featured placements. Part 3 covers company accounts.
gophers.fyi is run by Matt Watts, a sole trader trading as gophers.fyi, based in the UK. "We" means gophers.fyi. Contact: matt@gophers.fyi. Post: 79 Leylands Road, Burgess Hill, RH15 8AF, United Kingdom.
Part 1: Site terms
Using the site
gophers.fyi is free for job seekers. You don't need an account. Companies can create a free company account to see how their roles are doing (Part 3). By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
Job seeker accounts
If you like, you can create a free account to choose the Go roles you'd like to hear about and get job alert emails. It's optional, and you don't need one to search or apply. Please use your own name and an email address you control, and keep access to that email secure, as it's how you sign in. You can change your choices, turn alerts off or delete your account at any time from your account page. We can suspend or remove an account that's being misused. Our privacy notice explains what we keep.
Where listings come from
Listings come from companies' own public careers pages. We check each role three times a day. If a role disappears from the company's site twice in a row, we take it down. A few listings are added by hand.
We do our best, but we can't guarantee that a listing is accurate, still open or genuine. Please check the details on the company's site before you rely on them. We don't recommend or vouch for any employer.
Applying
We never take applications. Apply buttons take you to the company's own site, through a gophers.fyi link that counts the click. Applying happens there, under the company's terms and privacy policy. We're not part of any application or hiring process, and we aren't responsible for what happens on other sites.
Salaries
We only show a salary when the company publishes one, and we show it as written.
Featured listings
Some listings are paid for. They are always marked, with a FEATURED pill or a "Company spotlight" label. Paying doesn't change which roles we list or how free listings are ordered.
Acceptable use
Please don't:
- scrape the site in a way that harms it or puts a heavy load on it;
- try to break in, get round security, or disrupt the site;
- try to get into an account that isn't yours; or
- use the site for anything unlawful, misleading or harmful.
Search engines and AI answer engines are welcome to crawl the site, in line with our robots.txt.
Other job boards and aggregators may not republish our listings or data without our written permission.
Who owns what
The site's design, code and text, and our compilation of the listings data, belong to us. Job adverts, logos and company names belong to the companies. We use them only to show and identify their roles. Our gopher mascot is based on the Go gopher by Renée French, licensed under CC BY 4.0.
Company names and logos
Company names and logos belong to their owners. We show them only to identify the employer behind a role or company page. Showing a logo doesn't mean that company endorses, sponsors or works with gophers.fyi, unless the page clearly says it's a paid placement. If you own a logo or name and want it changed or removed, email matt@gophers.fyi and we'll handle it as set out in the next section.
For companies: corrections and removal
If something about your company or one of your roles is wrong, or you'd like a listing, your logo or your company removed, email matt@gophers.fyi. Tell us the company and the page. We aim to act within 5 working days. If you'd rather we stopped collecting your roles altogether, say so and we'll exclude your company.
Our liability to visitors
The site is free and provided as it is. We aren't responsible for:
- decisions you make based on a listing;
- the content of other websites, including employers' sites; or
- the site being unavailable from time to time.
We are only responsible for loss that was a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to take reasonable care. We aren't responsible for business losses.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that the law doesn't allow us to limit. If you're a consumer, nothing here affects your legal rights.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can deal with disputes. If you're a consumer living elsewhere in the UK, you can also use your local courts.
Part 2: Featured listing terms
These terms apply when a business books a featured placement. Placements are sold only to businesses, not consumers. A sole trader booking for their own business counts as a business. By booking, or by paying at checkout, you confirm that you're booking for a business and that you're allowed to agree to these terms for it. As these are business contracts, consumer rights such as the 14-day cancellation period don't apply. You can still cancel for a full refund before your placement starts (see below). Part 1 also applies, and Part 3 applies if you have a company account.
What you can buy
Featured role slot, 30 days. Your role is pinned on one of these pages:
- the homepage (2 slots, which also show at the top of /jobs): £79;
- the remote jobs page, /jobs/remote (2 slots, for fully remote roles only): £49;
- a country page, which also covers your role's city page in that country: £49; or
- a city or remote page, such as London, Berlin or Remote Europe: £49.
Extra locations: £29 each. A role listed in more than one country can be featured on more country pages in the same booking, for £29 for each extra country. Each country page covers one of your role's city pages in that country; each further city page in that country is £29.
Company spotlight: £79 for 30 days. Your company appears on the homepage and pinned above every company on /companies, with your open Go roles and tech stack. There is one spotlight slot. You can book it if your company has at least one open Go role on gophers.fyi. Once it's live, it runs for its 30 days even if your roles close.
Each featured role slot includes a social banner for the role. The company spotlight doesn't include one.
Location rules
A role can only be featured on a page for a location the role actually lists. For example, a role listing Berlin can go on the Germany page or the Berlin page, but not the London page. A Remote page is only for roles that are genuinely remote in that region, and the remote jobs page is only for fully remote roles. We'll refuse a slot for a location the role doesn't list. The homepage slot can be used for any role that meets these terms.
Booking and payment
By card. With a company account, an Admin can book and pay from the company dashboard, by card or another payment method Stripe offers at checkout. Before you pay, checkout shows each page you've picked, its price and when we expect it to go live. Stripe handles the payment, and we never see full card numbers. Your booking is accepted once the payment goes through. We then email you a confirmation, and Stripe emails your receipt.
By invoice. You can also request a booking with the form on our employers page, or by emailing matt@gophers.fyi. We'll confirm the slot and start date by email, and send an invoice, payable by bank transfer within 7 days. A booking made this way is only accepted when we confirm it, and the placement starts once payment is received. If we haven't received payment after 7 days, we may release the slot. If your role isn't listed on gophers.fyi yet, send us a link to your job ad and we'll add it.
All prices are in pounds sterling (GBP). We are not VAT registered, so no VAT is charged. If you're outside the UK, any taxes due in your own country are for you to handle.
How long it runs
Each booking runs for 30 days from the day it goes live, which is the maximum per booking. Each page has a limited number of slots.
If a page is free when you pay, your placement goes live straight away.
If a page is taken, you can secure it now. You pay today, and your placement goes live by itself when the bookings ahead of it end. Checkout and your dashboard show the date we expect it to start. That date can move if a booking ahead of yours is changed or cancelled, so until your placement starts it's an expected date, not a promise. You can cancel for a full refund at any time before it starts. When it goes live, we'll email you its start and end dates.
Or you can register interest. There's nothing to pay and nothing is held for you. We'll email you when the page is free, and whoever books first gets it. We may close your request without emailing you if your role closes or you've booked that page since.
For bookings by invoice, we'll tell you the start date when we confirm the booking.
Cancellation before the start
You can cancel a placement any time before it goes live, for a full refund of what you paid for it. To cancel, an Admin emails matt@gophers.fyi. If you booked several pages, you can cancel the ones that haven't started and keep the rest. Cancelling a country page also cancels the city page included with it. Once a placement has gone live, it can't be cancelled for a refund, except as set out under Refunds.
If your role closes before its placement goes live, tell us. We'll move the booking to another of your open Go roles that meets the location rules, or refund it in full, whichever you prefer.
Refunds
If a problem on our side, such as the site going down or a bug, stops your placement from showing, you can choose either a pro rata refund for the lost days or an extension of the placement by the same number of days. Apart from this and anything the law requires, fees are non-refundable.
How refunds are paid. Card refunds go back to the card or payment method you paid with, through Stripe. We make them within 5 working days of agreeing a refund, and your bank may take a few more days to show it. Invoice payments are refunded by bank transfer. Refunds are in pounds sterling, and we aren't responsible for exchange rate differences or bank charges.
Card disputes
If something's wrong with a payment, please email matt@gophers.fyi first. We'll usually sort it out faster than your bank. If you dispute a payment with your bank or card provider, we may pause the placement until the dispute is settled. If it's settled in your favour, the placement ends.
Swapping roles
You can swap your featured role for another of your open Go roles at any time, as often as you like, by emailing matt@gophers.fyi. The new role must meet the location rules for the same page. The placement keeps its original end date.
If the role closes
A closed role's placement ends, because the listing comes down. If your featured role closes during the placement, we'll move the remaining days to another of your open Go roles that meets the location rules. If you have none, the placement ends and no refund is due.
Our editorial rights
We can refuse a booking, or remove a placement, if the role isn't really a Go role, is misleading, isn't genuine, or breaks these terms or the law. If we refuse a booking you've already paid for, or we can't make a booking you've paid for (for example, because that page is no longer available for your role), we'll refund it in full. If we remove a live placement for a reason that isn't your fault, we'll refund the unused days. If we remove it because the role or your content breaks these terms or the law, no refund is due.
Your responsibilities
You confirm that the role is real and open, that what you give us is accurate and lawful, and that you're allowed to let us use your company name, logo and content as set out below.
Your name and logo
You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use your company name, logo and the content you supply, for the term of your placement, to show the placement on gophers.fyi and to promote it on our social media accounts (such as X and Bluesky), including in the social banner for the role. You confirm you have the right to grant this licence. We'll show your logo as supplied, without altering it apart from resizing. When the placement ends, we stop using it in new promotion of the placement. Posts already published may stay up unless you ask us to remove them. This licence is in addition to any licence you give us under Part 3.
Clicks and results
We give you apply click counts and job page view counts for your roles and placements, on your company dashboard or by email. These are our own figures, with bots and prefetches excluded. They are indicative, not guaranteed. We don't guarantee any number of applications, hires or visits.
Liability
Neither of us is liable to the other for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue or business. Our total liability to you for each booking is limited to the fees you paid us for that booking. We aren't responsible for delays or failures caused by things outside our reasonable control, such as an outage at our hosting, payment or email providers. We don't control how search engines, social networks or other sites show, index or rank your placement or role. If a problem on our side stops your placement from showing, what we owe you for that is the refund or extension under Refunds. Nothing limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow to be limited.
Ending a placement
Either of us can end a placement by email if the other seriously breaks these terms. If you end it because we did, we'll refund the unused days. If we end it because you did, no refund is due.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have exclusive jurisdiction.
Part 3: Company account terms
These terms apply when you create or use a company account. Company accounts are for businesses, not consumers. Parts 1 and 2 also apply.
Who the agreement is with
A company account is an agreement between us and the company. When you create, claim or join one, you accept these terms on the company's behalf, and you confirm you're allowed to do that. The company is responsible for its account and for the people in it.
Who can have one
A company account is for people who work for the company directly. Recruitment agencies, and anyone acting for a company from outside it, can't have one, claim a company or be invited.
You sign up with a work email address on one of the company's email domains. We decide which domains belong to which company, from the company's website. Personal email addresses (such as Gmail or Outlook) never count. You can sign in with a code we email you, or with Google if your work email is a Google Workspace account for that domain. Company sign-ins last at most 30 days, then you sign in again.
An email address is either a job seeker account or a company account, never both, and a company account belongs to one company.
Getting access
- Claiming a company. If your email matches a company on gophers.fyi that nobody has claimed yet, you can claim it and become its first Admin.
- Joining a colleague. If someone from your company is already on gophers.fyi, ask them to invite you. Invites are for addresses on the company's domains only, work once and last 7 days.
- Asking us. If your email doesn't match (for example, a brand that uses its group's domain), you can ask us to check. We may ask for more information, and we can say no.
- Adding a new company. If your company isn't on gophers.fyi yet, you can add it. It stays hidden until we've checked it. We list companies that hire Go engineers in Europe or remotely, and we don't list recruitment agencies. We can decline, and we'll tell you why.
By claiming, adding or joining a company, you confirm that you work for it and are allowed to act for it on gophers.fyi.
Admins and Members
Each person in a company account is an Admin or a Member.
- Admins can invite colleagues, make others Admins or Members, remove people, and book and pay for featured placements.
- Members can see the company dashboard and the team, but can't book or pay.
A company always keeps at least one Admin while anyone else is in it, so the last Admin can't delete their account until someone else is an Admin.
The company is responsible for who it lets in and for what people in its account do. Admins should remove anyone who leaves the company or shouldn't have access any more.
What you can see
Your dashboard shows your company's live roles, with job page views and apply clicks, and what's featured or waiting. These figures are indicative, as in Part 2. We never share anything about job seekers with companies, and we never take applications.
Your company page
We decide your company's website, email domains and whether its page is live. We may correct, hide or remove anything on gophers.fyi about your company, and we keep the record of changes made in your account.
Logos and material you give us
If you give us a logo, image or text for your company, through your account or by email:
- you confirm that the company owns it or has the right to let us use it, and that it's accurate and lawful;
- you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to show, resize and format it on gophers.fyi, and in posts on our social media accounts about your company and its roles, for as long as your company is listed and for a reasonable time after; and
- we may refuse, edit or remove anything that seems inaccurate, infringing or misleading, or that breaks these terms.
We'll show your logo as supplied, apart from resizing. If you'd like us to stop using something you gave us, email matt@gophers.fyi. We'll stop using it in anything new within 5 working days.
Using your account properly
Please don't:
- share your sign-in or let someone outside the company use your account;
- pretend to be someone else, or claim a company you don't work for;
- try to see or change another company's account; or
- use automated tools on the dashboard, or copy its figures in bulk, unless we've agreed it.
Keeping your account secure
Keep access to your work email secure, as it's how you sign in. Tell us straight away at matt@gophers.fyi if you think someone has got into your company account.
Suspending and closing accounts
We can suspend or remove anyone's access, or a whole company account, if we think it's being misused, the person doesn't work for the company, the company is a recruitment agency, or these terms are broken. Where we can, we'll tell you why.
You can delete your own account at any time from Your account. That removes your access straight away. Your name stays in your company's record of changes for a limited time, as our privacy notice explains, so the company can see who did what.
An Admin can ask us to close the whole company account by emailing matt@gophers.fyi. Your company's public listings carry on as described in Part 1 unless you also ask us to remove them.
Price
A company account is free. Featured placements (Part 2) are paid.
Company Premium isn't on sale yet. We'll publish its terms here before it is.
Changes to the service
Company accounts are free, so we may change, add or remove features, or stop offering company accounts. If we stop offering them, we'll tell Admins by email first. This doesn't affect any placement you've already paid for under Part 2.
Liability
Neither of us is liable to the other for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue or business. As company accounts are free, our total liability to the company under this Part is limited to £100. Nothing limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow to be limited.
Changes and law
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If we make an important change to this Part, we'll email your company's Admins before it applies. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have exclusive jurisdiction.
